1863 GEORGETOWN, Br. Guiana 'CITY POST' 2c (1d) rate cover - the only known example
(introduced 13th May 1863 per T+H handbook Page 337): mourning cover to Dr. Hutson, Main Street with wide spacing 2c orange thin paper P.12½-13 (SG.52) tied clear A03 (Georgetown) b/stamped DEMERARA A/DE 10 63 cds and docketted '10 Dec. 63' on face. (Note: no similar CITY POST cover for New Amsterdam is currently known).
On 13th May 1863, the Combined Court, 'Agreed that postage on letters posted in Georgetown for delivery in Georgetown and posted in New Amsterdam for delivery in New Amsterdam be fixed at 2c (1d) per half ounce'.
