1941 use of GB KG6 2˝d PSE pmk'd Tunbridge Wells "Post Early In The Day" machine cancel dated 29 JUN 1941 to Corporal Arthur James Brett, R.A.F. possibly addressed Dept. 08 Air Ministry, British Mails prior forwarding to Darrell's Island, Bermuda with HAMILTON 1 AUG 41 backstamp, further blue 8 SEP 1941 handstamp PERSONAL LETTERS/AIR MINISTRY pencilled "08", and manuscript forwarding "1425 Flight (RAF) Honeybourne, Worcester, RAF Prestwick, Scotland, and RAF I.OTU (No. 1 (Coastal) Operations Training Unit), Silloth, Cumberland with 29 DE 41 arrival d/ring.

Great Britain 1971 Postal strike: EMERGENCY MAIL SERVICE, Rhodesia postal history
1971 complete with text AIR LETTER to Oxford, England with 2˝c, 5c affixed for postage and additional 50c fee pmk'd CAUSEWAY 25 FEB 71 with circular EMERGENCY AIR SERVICE d/ring alongside.
Writer mentions new service (inaugurated on or about the 20th February) for such airletters at a cost of 5/- or 50c cents local. Such letters were taken by private couriers. The UK postal workers strike was period January to March 1971.

AROUND THE GLOBE IN 100 DAYS, York, Halifax N.S, San Francisco, Honolulu, Hong Kong, Batavia
1879 QV One Penny Farthing Foreign Post Card written by "John G. Dayn Jan 13th 1879 8pm" and pmk'd same night with YORK "930" duplex dated I/JA 13 79 with addresses and instructions for a bid to travel around the Globe in 100 days via Halifax, Nova Scotia, San Francisco, Honolulu, Hong Kong, Batavia, Java (with comment "out of the direct course"), and back to York showing Halifax JA 27 79, Hong Kong A/MR 19 79, Weltevreden 31 3 79 cds, some toning and closed base tear.
Two other similar items are noted for the period with Hong Kong MR 21 79 cds on Denmark post card with USA, Hong Kong, Hawaii adhesives, and Hong Kong MY 10 79 cds on German post card with Hong Kong, South Australia adhesives and via Uruguay address. Jules Verne published his novel "Around the World in 80 days" in 1873.

HERO of the H.M.S. "BIRKENHEAD" SHIPWRECK DISASTER, Sierra Leone postal history
1852 letter from Lt-Colonel Alexander Seton written at Sierra Leone 29th January posted in GB QV 1d pink PSE to Edinburgh with MR 15 and MR 15 transit and arrival backstamps. This is the only letter he wrote from Sierra Leone and the penultimate letter before the tragic disaster in Simon's Bay in the early hours of 26th February 1852 which took about 445 lives.
A 4 page account of the disaster accompanies as prepared for the December 2018 British West Indies Study Circle journal.

1942 "ONLY FOR ARMY AND/AIR FORCE OVERSEAS" envelope for use to servicemen overseas addressed RAF Belvedere, Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia with GB KG6 1˝d pmk'd BOURNEMOUTH-POOLE 26 NOV 1942 with strong NORTON 22 MAR 43 and forwarding to Johannesburg, South Africa (purple str. line 26 MAR 1943 dater on reverse).
