ST. VINCENT cds
dated A/AP 8 82 on 1881 Perkins Bacon QV 1d drab (SG.37). Very rare as such.
Only two examples of this black ST. VINCENT cds are recorded, by me, on this issue, both dated A/AP 8 82, which undoubtedly were soaked off and split up from a horizontal strip of four on UPU 4d rate cover to the UK. The other copy shows extra cds rims at both left and right, but the two copies do not re-join.

Unique SMUGGLED Polignac, St. Vincent postal history
1861 entire without the customary "Per RMS Steamer" or despatch cds headed "St. Vincent 9th December 1861" to The Duke de Polignac, Paris with 2 x GB QV 6d lilac pmk'd "8" in diamond obliterator (triple 4d rate) and with upper flap showing London JA 2 1862 transit and Paris 3 JANV 62 arrival. The only Polignac as such.
Contents mention Calder and Argyle estates.

GB/40c, St. Vincent postmark/cancel
(allocated PML.73a showing an upright serif on the '4') an exceptionally clear strike on 1877 QV 1/-vermilion (SG.24).
Most strikes of this instrument are badly worn, and it is due these elusive early clear strikes that it was noticed that three, instead of two, types of GB/40c exist. PML.73 sans-serif '4' and rounded top to instrument, PML.73a seriffed '4', PML.74 small 'c' and pointed top to instrument.
