The black strikes used during shortages of adhesives, and all three showing chipped short right leg in "A" of BARBADOES etc, the two covers with faults.

1854 entire written London and pmk'd NO 1 1854 to David Rees, R.M.S.P. Derwent, Barbados rated both "5" and "6" (each deleted) with BARBADOES NO 21 1854 dbl-arc across reverse flap and additionally marked manuscript "Left the Service" and "unclaimed". Writer commiserates with Rees' failure to get the expected promotion in the RMSP Company and encloses a £30 draft drawn on the Colonial Bank on account of a legacy. Additionally marked "Received 12 March 1855" so it is assumed that the letter eventually caught up with him.

2nd Battalion The Duke of Wellington's Regiment, BARBADOS postal history
1891 QV 2½d rate regimental cover to Cushendun, Co. Antrim, Ireland pmk'd SP 12 91 duplex with neatly written 14 sides on 3 pages regimental note paper in the form of a diary spanning the period 14 days Saturday 29th August to Friday 11th September.
Newsy contents mention loss of £70 worth of silver in a robbery, the subsequent capture of one of the robbers when he tried to sell some of the spoons to a jeweller, another of the garrison had up by the police for refusing to pay full fare on the railway, and additionally getting caught when he gave his A.D.C.s free pass to his sister, polo matches, guard duty, shooting of braces golden plover, long legs and chirps, and taking the ponies for a swim and their rapid exit due a nearby blue shark. There is also mention of sketches of the glens of Antrim by the English artist and author Rose de Crespiguy.

1968 airmail cover with hand-drawn and coloured steamship marked "Wup" to Prestiment Johnson (sic), United States, U.S.A. with QE2 25c coral pmk'd CHRIST CHURCH 14 NO 68 showing small red NOV 16 arrival on address panel, sender address on reverse.
Lyndon Baines Johnson was the 36th President of the USA 1963 to 1969 taking office after the Kennedy assassination.

1884 use of QV ½d Post Card pmk'd open bootheel duplex A/AP 24 84 to W.A. Toppin, "Risqué", St. John re meeting of the Horticultural Society with BARBADOS 5/AP 24 84 (M2-R) arrival, some soiling. (Ex O.B. Davis).
This series of Parish marks (M2-O, original set close to outer rim, and M2-R, replacement set further away from rim) are rarely found on entire. Struck on "loose" Britannia issues they are mostly extremely rare except for "2" code (Christchurch) but even this not recorded tying stamp on cover.

1866 entire with printed colourless embossed DUMMETT & Co. BARBADOS letterhead to E.H. Fitt & Co, Trinidad with 6d orange-red (SG.30) tied Bridgetown "1" bootheel with top flap displaying MR 6 66 despatch and Trinidad MR 8 1866 arrival, left frontal crease with central split.
On DE 1 1862 Barbados and Trinidad had agreed to abolish the collection of 1d from both sender and addressee, this prepaid 6d adhesive comprised 1d to port, 4d sea post, 1d delivery.

1882 use QV 1½d red-brown Post Card "per Zoe" to London with design pmk'd open bootheel duplex dated A/FE 1 82, landed with red SHIP-LETTER/A/PAID/FE 20 82/LONDON cds. Soiling and with pieces paper obscuring parts of reverse text.
Mail landed by private ship from Barbados to UK ports is rarely met for the later period. During period 1865 to 1886 only six entires are recorded as such, one landing Dover, five landing London.
